This morning in my time of meditation I had an epiphany: Science needs what it often fears most, that qualities that is deemed to be spiritual. Specifically, humility and courage. For those who want to be at the forefront of discovery in science, it is needed to let go of what is familiar and to steer into the unknown. This calls for firstly; humility; to admit that you don’t know or are not certain or even acknowledge that you were or could have been wrong. Then having courage to explore the unknown and publish your findings, exposing yourself to the “outsiders club – the crazy ones”. Often to be ridiculed, sometimes even persecution. If you could, ask Albert Einstein, Nicholas Copernicus or Galileo Galilei who was persecuted.

Thus, Scientific Discovery needs a friend called Spirituality
